There is no Christmas, by us, without this dessert, and even if we eat out, my mom does the same and it has been kept in the fridge, and just go home at night, before the only light on the tree, there the taste of the heart before going to bed (a slight little thing, eh!)
And then you do not prepare more than the following year, on the afternoon of December 24 each.
do not know what the name actually has for us is simply this ... just say so and we understand each other now.
do not know if my mother invented trying to recreate something else that hung in his memory and his palate.
I only know what has become our tradition.
Whether we are quite jealous, and very proud.
that anyone has tasted it has always praised.
And that, contrary to initial appearances, it is also easy to do: just a little patience!
.
OUR SWEET CHRISTMAS!
OUR SWEET CHRISTMAS!
- 3 eggs;
- 100 gr. cornstarch;
- 150 gr. sugar;
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract;
for gelatin:
- 300 gr. strawberries (even frozen) or other berries, to taste;
- 2 tablespoons sugar;
- 1 orange;
- 2 sheets of gelatin;
for the pudding:
- 1 package vanilla pudding (I opt for one of the Cameo);
- ½ l. milk;
- 3 tablespoons sugar;
also:
- 4 canned peaches with their syrup;
- rum, to taste;
- ¼ l. of whipped cream;
- 1 tablespoon sugar.
Prepare the sponge cake, whip the egg whites to work the sugar with the yolks, perhaps helping by placing the bowl over a pan of hot water, to facilitate the incorporation of air into the egg yolk and get so the coveted frothy effect.
Combine egg, stirring slowly, from bottom to top.
Add a little at a time, the starch sifted and vanilla.
Put in a buttered and floured mold, and bake at 180 ° C for 20-30 minutes, leaving the oven door slightly open (in practice will dry out!).
I used in this case, the mold of plum.
Bake the sponge cake, and then let it cool (you can prepare it the day before).
Cut the slices and cover the pan (a container from the banks rather high, like a bowl), or cups, if you prefer portions.
Sprinkle lightly with a little 'and syrup, if desired, with a splash of rum.
refrigerator.
soak the gelatin in cold water.
put half of the juice in a pan, heat getting to the boil, then add the squeezed gelatine.
Allow to cool, add the remaining juice, pour over peaches and place in refrigerator until firm.
Very good! Every spoonful
presents a superimposition of layers of different texture and delicate flavor and smooth.
One of my favorite desserts!
